Greater Bay Area – San Carlos | Baby & Child Portrait Photographer | Valentine’s Day!

Happy almost Valentine’s Day! Wishing you all a great week.:)Hopefully you all have fun plans for Saturday!? My husband and I will go iceskating together (our usual weekly date) and then head home for a quiet movie. Not super exciting to most, but it’s our idea of fun and I’m very much looking forward to it!

Here at Kristin Troyer Photography our mini Valentine sessions went great and we had a FULL day. We are now almost ready for our Easter Mini Sessions (something we don’t usually offer every year) and we will have a sneak peak with samples images soon! Valentine Minis were super fun though and I’m already brain storming ideas for next year.

As a mom of a middle schooler I’m FINALLY (lol) past the stage of making valentine’s and trying to come up with some creative or fun teacher gifts. Don’t get me wrong… it was a fun 7 year run, lol. But I must admit I did burn out. I will also admit I’m one of those Pinterest Mom’s always wanting a fun and special gift or project to make. Totally over that now! However for those of you still looking for a fun a cute teacher gift idea I have an easy one that is a favorite of mine from 2 years ago. It was actually for Teacher Appreciation week gift, but will work great for Valentine’s Day gifts too! The note reads, “Thanks for making us a bunch of SMARTIES you’re a LIFESAVER”.

I cannot take credit for the idea. Some awesome lady shared it online and included a fun printable. Here is where to find her post and printable…

These are pictures of the ones we created…
Items needed:

cellophane bags (can be found at any Michael’s Craft Store, any party supplies store and usually Joann’s Fabrics or your local Target)

twist ties or ribbon (note: twist ties usually come with the cellophane bags), but ribbon can be colorful and fun!

candy: both smarties and the individually wrapped lifesavers that come in a bag

thick card stock to print your own notes/message or any small card to attach with a handwritten note (or artwork from your child).

side note: When our Daughter just had one teacher (and funds allowed) I sometimes liked to slip a $5-$10 Starbucks gift card in there too. Not really necessary and not recommend if you have several teachers unless your budget allows for it and you are so inclined, but always really appreciated by teachers, lol.

The main idea of the gift though is suppose to be easy and fun (and cute!).

Whatever you do both for Valentine’s Day and possibly even with school/teacher Valentine’s cards/gifts, I hope you have an awesome time.

Best wishes to all!

San Carlos – Bay Area | Twin Newborn Photographer | When to Book a Newborn Session?

I’m often asked ,”When is the best time to book my newborn session?” The answer is, “As soon as you know you want to have a newborn session!”

I tend to book out pretty full in advance so to insure a spot on my calendar booking earlier is best. I strive to give my clients the best customer service possible and to do so I only book two due dates a week. While I would love to take on every newborn session and I always try to fit in last minute bookings and after-baby-has-arrived bookings, I can’t always guarantee a spot if you haven’t pre-booked.

Also, pre-booking has it bonuses! When you pre-book your newborn session you receive a complementary maternity session. Maternity sessions are best when you are 30-33 weeks pregnant. All the more reason to book early! Your custom maternity session can be in studio or outdoors. After planning your custom maternity session we get to started planning for your custom newborn session!

These twins were tons of fun! Identical boys, we couldn’t tell them apart at all. Mom had painted one of the toe nails so we knew who Baby A. was and Baby B. was:)  Needless to say from looking at the pictures these adorable guys have proud parents and are the two newest little San Francisco Giants fans! How fun! Baby A. and Baby B. did such a great job cuddling together and sleeping for their photo session. We finished in 3 hours which is super for a twin session as twins do tend to take a little longer than a single baby newborn session, but these guys were such great sleepers. I was so excited to get to use my moon prop with them. I do use it often as I do my many other large props (princess carriage, princess and the pea bed, air plane, and so many bucket and baskets), but this was my first chance to use my moon prop with my new matching star and moon sleeping caps that I purchased particularly for this session! Did I mention I had fun? lol

Thank you Baby A and Baby B. for being so super cuddling and thanks Mom and Dad for giving me the chance to work with you. It’s such an honor to be apart of these early moments in their lives. <3 <3

Oh how fun it is to be ONE! I loved this cake smash session with this Sweet heart Miss M. that I photographed way back when she was just a little newborn! She had the cutest newborn session with special bumble bee and loin outfits. And now look where we are? A year later with a one year old Miss M. and yummy cake, lol.

Mom bought this petti skirt and headband set online just for this session and man did it turn out cute! Miss M. played a little with the cake and obviously dug into that blue frosting. Almost every single cake smash session ends with painting frosting on the floor, lol. Always so much fun.

If your little one is getting close to that one year mark and your planning to book your session, book early. My calendar books up fast and especially my Saturdays. I work 3 Saturdays a month (we are closed Sundays) so if you need a weekend slot, plan ahead! Most parents tend to have their session between 11 and 13 months old, so not always exactly at 12 months.

Things to remember when planning your session:

1) We will have time for a one year old portrait session before the cake smash. You may bring 1-2 outfits for this. And the cake smash is saved for last!

2) While you are always welcome to bring special outfits I do have different colored and patterned diaper covers for the cake smash part of the session.

3) The cake smash setup is decorated with some type of pom poms (as shown) or balloons provided by me. So, make sure you share with me which colors your one year old will be wearing so I can plan props accordingly.

4) Most Important… Due to allergies and health reasons, if you are wanting a cake smash you are to provide your own cake.

This adorable little boy was a bundle of joy! I always love the detail shots from our photo sessions. Look at his sweet little toes, hand and tiny little eyelashes… so sweet!

This image is a perfect example of the adorable custom story boards we create here at Kristin Troyer Photography. While we have a variety of story board options, ones like shown below come is square format of 12×12, 16×16 or 20×20. The story board can feature 4 photos or 9 photos (as shown below). We can also add a name across the bottom. They are perfect for hanging in baby’s room and or gifts for grandparents.
